A Digital Home for Public Health Workforce Research
O8 built a 15-page Drupal 9 website for the Consortium for Workforce Research in Public Health, giving seven researchers across six universities a home to publish their work on the public health workforce.
Introducing the Story of CWORPH
The Consortium for Workforce Research in Public Health (CWORPH) is a national research center housed at the University of Minnesota, bringing together seven researchers from six universities. It is the only research center in the country focused specifically on the public health workforce, studying issues like workforce shortages, diversity and equity, policy, training, recruitment, and retention.
The Challenge
As a research consortium spanning multiple institutions, CWORPH had no dedicated home of its own to share its research with the public health field. The site needed to be built within the University of Minnesota's Drupal environment, using UMN's Folwell theme on the Lite platform tier, a more constrained configuration than UMN's Enterprise builds, which allow custom subthemes.

- Homepage mockup establishing the visual direction for the site
- Wireframes for two additional content types, supporting CWORPH's research and resource content
- Reusable page layouts for consistent, maintainable page-building going forward

- QA/UAT and deployment support to bring the site live within UMN's Drupal environment

O8 delivered the site as a fixed-fee, single-phase engagement, taking CWORPH from initial visual direction through to a fully deployed, content-complete website.
The team began by establishing the site's look and structure early, then built content types and page layouts designed to be reusable, so CWORPH could add and manage new research and resources without needing custom development down the line.
Content was populated across the full site before the team moved into QA and deployment, bringing the platform live within UMN's Drupal environment.
The Results
CWORPH now has a dedicated, on-brand Drupal platform for sharing its research with the public health field — giving the consortium's seven researchers a home to publish findings on workforce shortages, diversity and equity, policy, training, recruitment, and retention.
