Closing the Data Gap Between WooCommerce and Business Central

A custom plugin captures the custom order data missing from the standard Versapay-WooCommerce connector, giving St. Mary's Press a fully automated order flow into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Introducing St. Mary's Press

St. Mary's Press is a Lasallian Catholic publishing ministry serving young people and educators, selling curriculum and resources through an online store built on WooCommerce. Behind the scenes, order and financial data is managed in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The Challenge

St. Mary's Press selected Versapay as an upgrade to their payment processor because of its integration with Business Central. But the standard Versapay-WooCommerce connector wasn't passing the custom order data St. Mary's Press needed through to BC — it carried standard transaction details, but not the additional order-specific fields required by St. Mary's Press for complete processing.

The Scope

  • Custom PHP plugin for WordPress, built to bridge a gap in the third-party Versapay-WooCommerce connector
  • Pulls custom order fields from WooCommerce at checkout
  • Modifies the transaction workflow so that data is included in the payload sent to Versapay
  • Data lands correctly in the corresponding extra data fields in Business Central
  • Built to work within St. Mary's Press's existing stack, no change to their storefront platform or ERP system required

How O8 Responded

This was a technical, developer-level project: O8 built a custom PHP plugin for WordPress that bridges a gap in the core Versapay plugin provided by its third-party developer. At checkout, the plugin pulls the relevant custom order fields from the WooCommerce order and modifies the transaction workflow so that data is included in the payload sent to Versapay — landing correctly in the corresponding extra data fields on the Business Central side.

The integration works within St. Mary's Press's existing stack, so no change to their storefront platform or ERP system was required.

The Results

St. Mary's Press now has a fully automated transaction flow, with all order data landing in the expected extra data fields in Business Central. That automation eliminated the manual entry work internal staff previously had to do to fill in that data by hand, and improved data accuracy by removing the manual step entirely. The integration has been live and in production use since early 2026.
